Good Dip for Montis?

Well, figured out that my little clownfish that I thought was snacking on my monti was actually pecking at tiny little nudi's that are slowly eating it away >.< I currently do not have a hard-coral safe dip. I would like to get rid of these damn things before they spread too far. I know they've probably already laid egg sacs somewhere on the monti, but I also know that nudis are particular to one thing. So I'm hoping this means there aren't nudi sacs in other parts of the tank.
Can anyone recommend a good dip for these montis that would do the trick in ridding them of these pests??

Your going to need to do a lugol's iodine dip. Take three cups of tank water and add 20 drops of lugol's iodine (different then regular iodine) First cut away any dead coral (eggs are laid there)and then look for any other egg clusters and brush, scrape away. Then dip the coral in the lugol's iodine/saltwater mix for 10 minutes. After that rinse the coral in another container of tank water.
If you have any other monties in the tank your going to want to dip them too or else you might be in the same boat again in a short time. |

It worked great for us. My hubby had been eyeing up a large monti at the LFS, and when I wasn't there lol...he bought it. As soon as he brought it home....I thought it was a bit drap. Well it's because it was infested!!! He told the store so they could treat the others and they gave us a bottle of revive for free, so really that is the only reason we used it
never had any use for dips prior to that

I had best luck with actually fragging what I could off my monti that was healthy, and then tossing the rest - like chris said, they lay eggs on the dead tissue - but I also found they hide in the rocks sometimes!!
So, I also moved all of mine to magnets on my glass far far away from anything else (some where just strapped to the tops of pumps, that worked too) - there they were unable to climb the glass to get to the montis - so they eventually starved too death... Plus, i dipped every coral, and with a toothbrush scraped off all the eggs I could see (they are pretty easy to see, and after a while in a strong dip they eggs get soft so you can scrape them off)

I will have to pick up some Lugol's then! Now when I brush/scrape at egg sacs and what not, can that be out of water, or do I need to keep the monti submersed?

Great! I'll have to do that!
Toothbrush okay? And I won't damage skin or anything, right? (I am so hard-coral illiterate it's not even funny)

![]() ohh, and stay away from the wire brushes!! hahaha - the eggs will be on the dead part, so you can't really kill it anyhow, and they are pretty hard to get off!!
