Default Sliming

I'm having issues with my SPS "sliming" in some areas. Looks like the skin has bubbled around the skeleton and turned to slime. What the heck is that, how is it caused, and what does that mean for my coral? Is it a goner? Because it seems that once it's come to that, the skin just starts floating away in slimy chunks to leave a totally bleached skeleton behind.

When my tank lights go on, I will get a picture of the coral I am talking about and post it here.

So dang frustrated right now.

when you have a moment, take your tube of superglue gel and run a solid bead around the coral just above where the last white part on the skeleton is - that should stop the RTN on you......

the way I see RTN happen is like when you start peeling paint or tape off the wall, once you get your finger under it you can pull it all off, but if you secure a section, you can't peel from there

Don't feel bad about gluing over live tissue, better to loose some for the greater good!!

I'll do that, but from the looks of it, I think the whole thing is slimed up.

Is it a clear slime or brown? Can the coral be removed and dipped in something like revive?

It looks like both clear and brown, if that makes sense. Here's a pic - sorry it's a bit out of focus, it's the best I can do right now

I have coral revive, but I don't know if I should do anything right now, or just let the coral slime it out, since it appears that the whole thing is puffed up with slime. What do you think?

I'd clean as much of the slime off as you can - its like an infection (since its brown), and will continue to infect until it runs it course. Revive, or even an iodine dip may help - whichever you have on hand.

I would even go as far as cutting that top left tip off, as that doesn't look brown yet, and put it somewhere different from the rest of the brown.

*cries*

Well, just did a coral dip in a disinfectant, and gently wiped off as much of the slime that I could with a soft-bristle paint brush. This is the end result:

It's hard to believe this happened in less than 12 hours.
