A local hobbyist, tearing down his tank and moving, made me a very happy camper, the other day.
I went over to check out what he had available ![]() asside from 2 basketball sized Green Slimers and a beautiful Milli, I was thrilled to see an Oregon Tort COLONY!! Unfortunately, in order to get it, I had to take the entire rock, which also included a giant green with purple rimmed Monti cap and a decent sized colony of ORA Miami Orchid, along with tons of Pom Pom Xenia and some Majano anemone...grrr. ![]() What the heck, I already have Majano, in my 200, along with a Matted Filefish, who's been doing an amazing job, for the past 3 weeks, of eradicating the pesky Majanos. Besides, all the colonies came off the rock and were separated, prior to going in my tank. In it's new home... ![]() Hundreds of mini brittle stars were all over the rock, as I was removing the colonies, so those were an added bonus. The rock is now outside, sans the 3 SPS colonies. Majano and Pom Pom Xenia can rot away...lol. I'll let the rock completely die, then get it cycled to re-use. It's a beautifully shaped piece, at least 15 pounds.

Unfortunately, yes, the Xenia has been outside, drying out, along with the rock and majano anemone. I don't want any Xenia in any of my tanks, as it soon becomes a plague that's almost impossible to get rid of. I'd have attempted to give it all away, if I'd had a tank to put it in, temporarily. I may be going back for another coral or two. If so, I can possibly ship some Xenia to you. You'd need to cover shipping but the Xenia would be FREE! However, Xenia, especially Pom Pom Xenia, is notoriously a bad shipper.

The Monti cap was huge! Unfortunately, it had to be broken, as it was growing around the Oregon Tort, which was a bit more important to me. The Monti cap also had several Majanos growing on it. The large pieces of Monti cap that could be saved, were saved. Pieces that had too many Majanos to bother scraping off, were tossed. A lot of the bottom of the colony was dead, due to not getting light. All in all, I ended up with several large chunks of it. They're all in the 40 breeder. I think they'll stay in there. I'm considering most of the Monti caps out of the 200. They just grow too fast, taking up too much real estate...lol.

I completely agree! On the other hand, I also couldn't imagine having to move it, across state. When we move, eventually, I'm REALLY dreading every part of moving our 200DD! Heck, the stand doesn't even fit through the doors. I had to build it in sections and bring the sections inside, to assemble them!
