Thank you Bill, add all you want to the shopping cart... God knows we spend enough money as it is, so why not save some here and there lol...

Growth is looking good, nice colors too. just curious, how big are the "scoops" you're using? I know your lovin the new supplements, but sounds expensive depending on that scoop size. btw that green acro is a tabler isn't it? i like how its growing! fill us in more on your growing success....what bulb combo are you using now on that tank, and whats your Ca, Mg, Alk, and specific gravity???

I don't test for potassium or Iodine. That weekly thing is a stretch lol, its more like monthly
![]() I see that at some point all the testing becomes kinda counterproductive... I won't dive to far in, but a lot of the time, you see the more people test, and the more tests they use, the more problems they end up having with their tanks... lol I'll keep you all updated with pic's, cause as they say, a picture is worth 1000 words ![]() I have found that keeping a Clean tank does Lots more wonders than any amount of tests you might perform (outside of double checking SG when you are making your salt water), and if you keep up on some routine dosing, and routine water changes, you should not have to worry about testing every last element in your tank worrying that it might be .0003um off... Just keep up on maintenance and everything seems to be happy from my experience. Plus, I don't mind paying for a product like TM instead of a salt like crystal sea and then having to add all the supplements that I decided I didn't want to pay for when I got my salt. Just personal preference though. |

Thanks ozzie! It is crazy how many different ways we all do stuff, yet we all seem to get good results

We have used just about every supplement out there and just about every salt mix and in the 10+ years we have been doing this have never noticed any real difference. I asked about testing specifically about the iodine additions because in NSW it found in very low concentrations, parts per billion. Iodine is also toxic when over dosed. It will cause crustaceans to prematurely molt their skeletons and cause deformities. Fish food has plenty of iodine in it and you really dont need to add any extra. Here are two great articles on iodine http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/mar2003/chem.htm http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issu...l2003/chem.htm |

I have read plenty about iodine, and I don't mind supplementing it. I know the risks of overdosing, but adding one drop every 2-3 days is not too much from my reading either, and we do go on cycles of adding iodine.
I can guarantee that the supplements that I have added can Directly be attributed to the new growth that I have seen as it is the Only thing that I changed in the past 6 months. Those are real enough results for me to be happy with what I am adding. I will say I am very surprised that you have not seen different results from the different salts you have used, but I guess each person has their own experiences which is why this hobby is so unique

If we all had the $$$ and time for a full CSI type chemical lab complete with GC, we would know our exact water chemistry. Until them I only like to dose what I can accuratly test for.
That being said I have never seen a hobby that can have so many "right" answers to the same question.
