Default Sick Kenya Tree

Hello,

I noticed today that our Kenya Tree had 4-5 very bright white spots on its trunk. The tree opens nicely when the lights are on. The water parameters are all ok. We do currently have a few sick fish suffering from the effects of Ich, but could that infect our coral as well?

Thanks

Im not sure what the white spots are but they are not ich. Are you doing anything to treat the fish for ich? Im asking because maybe something you added to treat the ich could be causing this.

or bite marks from something

definitely need to know what you are doing to treat the ich - and what your parameters are... the spots aren't typical or easy to ID

No treatment for the ich. No additives of any kind. The water param's are 1.021 ( i was trying hypo-salinity but was advised not to so im in the process of bring it back to 1.026), 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate.

just bring it up slowly. I would say maybe .01 every day.

Not sure on what it would be.

How far had you dropped salinity? Inverts dont like that too much so that might be part of the problem right there. Hyposalinity should always be done outside of the display tank away from inverts.

Have the spots changed at all? How the coral look otherwise?

I took the salinity down to about 1.18 but only for a few days. Other than the spots, the coral seems healthy. He opens up and extends nicely when the lights are on. He doesn't slouch over or anything.

I wouldnt worry about it too much then. It could just be pigmentation in the coral or maybe it trying to branch out a little more.
