Default Devils Hand Coral (Lobophytum sp.)

Devils Hand Coral (Lobophytum sp.)

I have one of these corals that I got as a 1 to 1.5" frag, the first Photo is from January 2008, shortly after I got it and the second was from June 2010.

Devils Hand Coral (Lobophytum sp.)

Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Lighting: Moderate to High
Waterflow: Medium to Strong
Placement: All
Water Conditions: 72-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.023-1.025
Color Form: Green, Red, Tan, Yellow
Supplements: Strontium, Iodine, Trace Elements
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Family: Alcyoniidae

If you are looking for coral to add to your fish tank but you haven't had coral before, Devil's Hand Coral would be a good choice.
It is very easy to maintain in the reef aquarium and makes an excellent coral for the beginning through expert reef aquarist. You
can place the coral in the middle or on the top of your saltwater tank.

The Devil's Hand Leather Coral is also referred to as Finger Leather Coral. It varies in color between shades of brown, tan, pink,
yellow, or green.

Its behavior is peaceful, but some species are toxic to stony corals. So it will require space between others and itself within the
reef aquarium. The Devil's Hand Leather Coral will require medium to high lighting combined with medium to strong water
movement. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

You will need to keep a steady temperature in your saltwater tank which reads between 72 to 76 degrees. With soft coral such as
the Devil's Hand Coral, you will need a salinity level which reads between 1.020 and 1.024.

The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within its body provides the majority of its nutritional needs from the light driven
process of photosynthesis. It will also benefit from additional food such as micro-plankton, baby brine shrimp, or foods designed
for filter feeding invertebrates.

Yeah I actually have quite a few but just have to find the time to post them. That is one of the things that I like about this whole hobby, watching them grow.
