Colt shrinking - Reef-Geeks

My Colt seems to be shrinking. What would be the reason for that? I noticed that it appears to be spliting on the one side, but not realy sure why it would be shrinking. My xenia did that and now it's all gone. Am I killing it?

Are all your water tests ok? Soft corals can be finicky with water quality and chemistry. Being soft their bodies are made up of mostly water. They are constantly moving water in and out of them and slight changes can make them react.

Have you made any changes at all in the last few weeks? New products, reactors or anything?

Yep just like Chris said. Check those and keep an eye on them. I've been more stable in my DT and my rics are really getting bigger and more color. IT sure seems to help.

+1 on water conditions...............do you have a pic of this "shrinkage"? how's it doing today jim?

It appears to shrink slowly over time. So no real pictures of growth. Change.the salinity has been down to1.024 instead of 1.025 SG or 1.026

Do you have a nitrate test kit? What are your numbers?

Ok, For a coral like a colt thats not bad. Has the tank been getting hot?

I think so. The new lights are much hotter than the VHO's I had

How did you acclimate the tank to the new lights? A big jump in light will do this to corals

Well they were off for 2 days and they were cut back 4 hours shorter for 3 days when I set them up and then back to normal and now that I have the moonlight leds I cut them back 2 hours again

Well, it has seemed to stay close to the same size now. It never went back to it's orginal size but, does not look like it's shrinking anymore (at least I don't think.lol)

well I fragged the colt today.It was too wide for my tank.I want large corals but, don't want my colt to be the focus of my tank.So I'll sell the couple frags.The lesser colt fits the tank nicer.
