For all you sketch-up artists out there, I want to see some of your concepts and designs. I'll be adding my own sketches as well. Anything from a funky aquarium to an ideal setup, and feel free to talk about it as if it were real. Like stocking plans, equipment, uses, ect. So hop to it.
Hopefully I'm not the only one who will be adding to this : ) |

Example;
This is my furthest to date plan for my falco broodstock setup. It consists of of a plywood aquarium 30"x20"x30"(About 75 gallons) central overflow and external durso. The overflow first goes through an algae turf scrubber then in the 29G sump. The water from the ATS first flows through a media column, then it goes into a skimmer section w/heater(the little black thing in the left side of the sump is suppose to be a Hydor Slim-Skim btw). From the skimmer section it flows into a large display refuge, the plan is to have that area as both filtration and a place for coral frags/another fish to breed. From the fuge the water flows into the "extras" section, this is where all the sensors, a uv sterilizer, and other goodies will reside. From there the water flows into the return where a Mag7 and Mag5 will pump the water back on alternate cycles(maybe to help simulate flow alterations associated with tidal changes). Because of its height, there are two Tunze Nanostream 2025 pumps at the bottom, from the middle to the top, three to four Hydor Koralia Nano(2-240gph, 1-2-425gph) run on alternate cycles(much like the return pumps). The aquarium will be lit with 2 LED PAR38 bulbs, 12 LEDs on and will have 4 LED moonlights all on a timer to replicate the intensity of the sun. The aquarium will be stocked with: Fish: -C.falco -C.argi/bispinosa/flavissima/loriculus/acanthops Inverts: -CUC Corals: -Hardy, aquacultured, sps species -Acans -Bubble -Sun -Shrooms, Rics, Zoas -Chili -Gorgs Feeding-Lots Other: 1" of sand, dry rock all foamed together to make a rockwall, and an egg collector in the overflow. |

One day I see myself with a greenhouse in the backyard, and 20 long shallow tubs for coral growout - all plumbed together in an awesome waterfall format, 1 circulation pump, pumping from the last tub to the first one!! hehe and each tub is just dedicated to 1 coral, so that it can grow like mad!!!

Just an idea, but would anyone want a live sketchup tutorial? Like, we setup a time and everyone joins me in a skype call, there is an option or me to share my screen and you guys could ask any questions or pick up a few tips. If anyone's interested pm me, also my skype name is Meus.Ignis and I could start today.

we can use join.me for the "web-meeting" its free, and would allow the "sketch-up instructor" to share his desktop for everyone to watch and learn!!

Browsing through here tonight and found your thread, thought I would toss in some plans I had in motion for a 300g. (This setup is a no-go now, and I am working on a custom 150g setup now).
Pretty simple actually. 300g (72x36x27), 48" internal calflo using the BeanAnimal drain system. Drain pipe was 1.5" pvc using a gate valve to regulate drain gph. The stand was 2" square steel tubing. Sump/Refugium was going to be setup utilizing 2 tanks, a 40g breeder and a custom dimension Skimmer/return tank. The refugium would have sat higher that the drain sump so that it could drain off into the return section. ![]()

If your going to release your captive Lionfish (or any fish for that matter), take it to your LFS. They will most likely give you a small store credit that is worth more than the gas you will spend driving to the beach. |

Going with the 150g custom dimensions (52x28x24).
Unsure of what the fish list will be at this point. Obviously, the fish from my 65g will go in, as well as most of the corals. I currently have: Mated pair of Onyx Clowns Orchid Dottyback Midas Blenny Yellow Coris Wrasse As for fish that I want, they are listed below, but I need to consult my fish expert and the forums here, as I'm not that well versed in the fish dept. I want to have workers and performers ![]() Definitely looking to add: Purple Tang, Powder Brown (if I find a healthy specimen) or Achilles Tang Yasha Goby with Pistol Shrimp companion (Torn between this goby, Tiger Watchman or Black Barred Convict though) White Banded Possum Wrasse Blue Spotted Jawfish Small school of Purple Firefish I just have to finish up the ScketchUp design of the tank/sump/stand and I will start a build thread.

Its not just one tank... So So Sorry.. But, this what we are planning when the time comes... Well something along this line.. Its very rough drawing but be nice to me...
I'm no contractor... Over 12000 Gal of coral, 600 Gal of fish runs, plus a side building to do our tank build ups. The wall between the two buildings would have a window stretched the length of the two buildings so customers can watch tanks getting built. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
