How do you clean?

Default How do you clean?

I now have a ~180gal bowfront and I am finding that keeping the front glass clean is somewhat problematic. I had previously used a combo of a magfloat and a scraper to keep my 55 clean. However the bowfront curve presents a problem with using a scraper due to the radius and the glass is just thick enough that the mag float doesn't make great contact and barely cleans or just separates and floats to the top! So how do you all keep the front (and sides) of your tank, bowfront or not, pristine?

About every two days I have to run a scrubbing pad over the inside of my glass. I have a rectangle tank but it's easy and only takes a couple of minutes.

On our little anemone tank which has a curved front i use a small mag float and what ever that misses i scrape off with a razor. On the other tanks i use a mag float with this attached to it. Easy Blade Scraper Attachment for Aquarium Algae Magnet Cleaner

Grumpy uses a Mag Float on his 155 Bow front

$20,000 later....
Default Grumpy uses a Mag Float on his 155 Bow front

If I let it go for more that 5 days, it takes a little extra but mine works fine. Maybe yours is old and not as rough?

Good luck, there are other good ideas here too (but I don't like sticking my hands in the tank.. it's deep!)

that would be great to hear your feedback! ...though I have to say that on our curved corners the mag float doesn't work as great so I may try the dobie too!

Ok, so I upped the size of my magfloat and this made only a small impact on my view. I did add the Easy Blade Scraper and WOW! This is exactly what I needed. With a few horizontal swipes, the bowfront was looking as good as ever. I can't believe I've been in this hobby for a few years and hadn't seen these before... Thanks, guys!
