I received a clam in the mail today, I am appalled on the sellers shipping procedure. This is a 4" clam shipped in a 6" square box. Note that the bag that I am calling the garbage bag fills most of the box so the clam couldn't have been shipped in much water at all. I cut and pasted this from an email so bare with me.

OK pic's in order, sorry they are huge.

This is 913, I didn't send it to him but I thought you may want to see how the box looked when I opened it.

This is 914, you can see the byssal opening of the clam in the pretty much dry bag.

This is 915, I just slightly moved the garbage bag and the clam fell out onto the floor and this is how it looked when I picked it up. Yes it was only half in the bag.

The ripped bag, I can't believe the clam was only in one bag.

How the clam looks tonight.

It looks like that box took a good beating. Why don't they ship it in a foam box?

I am wondering the same thing.

My thought is that I got this clam for .99 off of Ebay, the seller lost money on the auction and tried to make up some of the cost in scrimping in shipping.

Holy crap! Maybe the seller shouldn't have sold it for a dollar if he was so worried about cost. That is unacceptable to send an animal like that, no matter how cheap the purchase price was.

I can not believe what I just saw

. This guy needs to be reported and disputed...and yes you can dispute through ebay - we've done it before...and the shipping charge of $50 is bogus! He lost money on the purchase price so he recouped by charging you for a $3 shipping! Don't let him get away with this skinz!
