Ive had my tek light for about 5 months now i havent cleaned it. never crossed my mind till i looked at it yesterday and well it has no reflection to it. lol so im wondering what you all use to polish your reflectors.
And any idea where i can get a good small sheap light for my little 5 gallon hexagon tank

I would just wipe them clean with RO water and a paper towel. Vinegar or acid would get the scale off, but acid and aluminum do NOT get along with each other, so don't do that.

Have you looked at metal halide pendents for the hex tank?

yeah ive thought of it but i think that would be over kill. i pretty much just use it as a refugium. theres nothing in it accept a few fuzzy shrooms and a million worms and mini star fish. i just want something little that will brighten it up a little to make it look more appealing. i have it plumed into my big tanks sump via a 300gallon an hour pump.

I agree, i would just use RO to get as much off as you can and then a little vinegar to get any tough stuff.

For a light i would look at these bulbs Philips Philips 14W Dusk to Dawn Energy Saver Compact Fluorescent Post Light - 405852 at The Home Depot and a cheep fixture like this 8.5 In. Incandescent Clamp Light - E-245 at The Home Depot

ill give that a shot here in a few minutes when i go to lunch. as far as the lights that almost exactly what i got for my sump lights. but i think i use the 6500 compact florecent twist bulbs. do you know of any good nano websites?
Well i just talked to sunlight supply and they said the same thing. but he said i shouldnt try polishing the reflectors. the makers of the reflectors use a very thin layers of material and any polish will take it right off. he said it may look shiny and polished but it wont be right nor as good.
Thanks again for your help.

I agree, dont polish it. Just get the salt or what ever is on it wet and wipe it clean.

pledge furniture polish usually will protect them from the damage of salt splash and also keeps them from corrosion as bad. I usually spray it and let it dry on the reflector.

I also do the glass on my tanks with it that way salt creep doesn't stick so easy. pledge is good for all sorts of stuff just remember not to spray it in your tank.
