Default Coral Came!

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know my coral and frozen food arrived yesterday! Some of the zoas have opened, but the others are still closed pretty tight. I'm hoping they're still just getting over shock from the travel.

Thanks again!

Well it's not lookin' too good. Going on day 3 of unopened zoas, and they just seem to be getting tighter and slowly melting away. The colony that came attached to a small piece of rock is growing a white fungus. I've had this type of fungus in the past in a different tank, and it spreads fast, and no matter what you do to try to get rid of it (coral dip, HP dip, wiping it off, etc) it always comes back, until it covers the whole colony and the zoas die.

Not sure what all is going to survive, but I'm not holding high hopes. All the other zoas I have in there that came from my 2 gallon are fine, thank goodness. But these new zoas just don't look like they're gonna make it.

Well I know you know how to cure thing on zoa's so I'm not sure what to do to help. Would any extra flow help? dip, flow, dip, flow. lol

I did an HP dip last night and wiped off as much of the fungus as I could while the zoas were soaking. The fungus had already taken down two zoas After the dip, I placed them in an area of high flow to make sure all the HP and (hopefully) fungus will stay off. If the HP didn't kill the fungus, I will see it back today, and know that they are pretty much doomed. I will be isolating them at that point to let them die, so they don't spread the infection to other zoas in my tank.

What a disappointment

sorry this is happening. We always send the best specimens to our customers and no fungi here either. Hope the treatments work and it doesn't spread to the other guys!

Unfortunately, the zoas never opened after I received them, and the treatments did not work. The fungus did not return, but the zoas were just too far gone that there really was no hope of them coming back. Now, there is just dead tissue left on the rock, and the loose polyps I received had been removed after they started decaying, too. Luckily, whatever they had did not spread to the rest of the zoas I had already had in my tank before adding these.
