It's been a few weeks now and evrything is doing fine. The only corals I see that are slower to adjusting to the LED lights are my Superman and Sunset montis. Here is a video I took today with the lights.

Thanks John.
The montis have good polyp extension, but the color on their skeletons has faded a bit. Keeping a close watch on them. If need be I can move them into my frag tank which has MH lights on it. |

Thanks.
Absolutely. my fans still come on now and then, the temp in the tank is much more lower than with the MH. And the electric meter is spinning much much slower. |

Wow!! The tank looks great!!
I have LED's on mine, but was actually considering going back to T5's because I got better growth on my corals under that lighting. Glad to see your corals (for the most part!) are responding well to the light change!

Thanks Lady. Well it's still early, but I haven't gotten rid of my MH setups just yet.

John looks very nice. Did you use the par meter yet?? I'm interested in what the par is on the bottom. I'm with you I like my new LED but not giving up on my MH just yet they have proven superior too many time for me. I really like the one I have but it's not 100% yet maybe with the new chip maybe not. This new tank is to big for anything without some high power.
GOOD LUCK with them and keep us posted.

Thanks Barbara and Bill.
So far I have not had to move anything out of the tank to go back under the MH. The sunset monti is doing much better now and I noticed that where the Superman was sitting in the tank was right under the shadow from one of the crossbars on the top of the tank. It was showing better color, but I moved it over so it wasn't under the shadow. Haven't had a chance to take all the readings with the meter just yet. I tried some quick readings the other day and the readings with the pumps all on really makes the readings jump around. Going to take readings with the pumps on and the pumps off. Not going to take any readings with just the blue LEDs on OR just the white LEDs on because I don't run them that way. |

Thank you GinasReef.
The tank is a 180gal 6'x2'x2'. The fixture is a DIY setup with 72 LED's........ 36 3w Whites and 36 3w Cree Blues with optics and dimmable drivers |

Here are the first readings that were taken with all the lights on, which include 2 VHO attinics and the LED's (36 white and 36 blues) and all the flow in action.
With the pumps all on, the par readings jump around, so I recorded the highest numbers. The tank is a 180 gal 6'L x 2'W x2'H. So the readings were taken at these heights, waterline above water, 6"' 12" and 20". The last level put the par meter just about on the top of my sand bed. I will take some readings tomorrow without the pumps on at the same heights Hope you can make out the numbers.

Thanks rgrking.
So had to do a w/c today and I took some par readings with the pumps all off. This in turn lowered my water levels. The distance from the Led's to the top of the water line was 11.5 inches. In the first test the distace was 10 inches

kewl - seems like the upper levels are more affected by the flow than the lower ones - think that is due to the location of the flow, or that things due to the depth, just have more filtering lower, which leads to a more consistent result?

Yes, definitely the direction of the flow is aimed more toward the top of the tank and that is where there is the most agitation. The flow level decreases as the depth of the water increases and I seem to get the most benefits of the flow this way. There is flow towards the bottom, just not as strong as the top.

wow......this is so interesting to actually see john - thank you!
....why is the center top reading higher with the pumps off? I understand why the others are lower, just curious about that reading....and I don't think I've mentioned this recently..........AWESOME tank
