I'm sorry I didn't see the original post, especially page 2 where you fully describe what you did, what a fantastic post! I'm going to their site next to see what a 6' setup would cost me.
I asked you about your LED's because I too have looked at them a lot, listened to Sanjay at MACNA and reviewed his technical findings, then spoke with him for 20 minutes after his seminar where I (at that time) agreed with his belief that LED's were not far enough along to provide sufficient PAR and proper wavelengths to compare with the three (3) 400w 14k metal haliads I'm now using. I'm now hitting the bad part of summer with 96 degrees in my garage and having to run my tank chiller to keep the tank at 80F so its time for me to take a serious look again. I'm hoping that the LED guys can provide me the specifics on both their white and blue LED's (wavelengths, power, etc..) Great pictures by the way and a million thanks again. Sincerely, Grumpy Quote:

Grumpy I am ecstatic that you know of, and have met Sanjay! I want to see what he thinks of the LED's Bill carries and the spectrum curve they run in the end together Because Bill modeled the LEDs he chose on Sanjay's studies for a 6'er take a peak at 3x 18s, if you run 400wMH look at 36 premium royal blues, 12x XPe cool whites and 12x high noon XPGs. If you need less power just reduce the quantity of LEDs. The drivers automatically adjust their output to accommodate the quantity of LEDs (as long as you meet their min/max) Make a thread dedicated to your concept LED build and we can talk in that thread and kick ideas back and forth. |

I have a new LED set-up on my 29 gallon, and I too have experienced a great increase in the growth of my corals, especially my zoanthids. LED's are amazing!!

I looked at the 48" ones and was reading that they are equivalent to two 48 T5HO bulbs.

Very nice color and growth..
Tank specs? Depth of tank? Redox (if possible)? Par? How deep are these sps? How high off the water are your LED's?
