Yeh its pretty nice eh! its a 7 footer or something. Nice system. Anyway would you guys happen to have a good plan for a sump for me
here's a pic of a sump that I could do...![]() Water goes in the right where the DSB and fuge is, middle section for skimmer and heater and left is the return... what you guys think? |

Yeh that could be annoying with the evaporation...I might have the skimmer and heater in the first section and DSB/fuge in the middle...

You really dont need any live rock in the sump. You want your live rock right where all the polutients are being produced (ie. the display tank) |

Yeh I guess so but you would have the added benefit of having more liverock in the system. Otherwise I might try a DSB and fuge...I drew it on the tank I bought to use as the sump and it would actually be quite a large area.

Tanks look nice, when are you putting them together?
What benefit do you think your going to get from extra rock? More isnt always better and in some cases is worse. I would much rather have a refugium in the sump then rock thats doing little to nothing for the tank. |

Thanks, it should start to come together in the next month I reckon.
I could do a DSB and fuge I guess, just wondering whats the most beneficial...I have read a bit about them and it seems pretty easy plus its something new for me to learn about as I have never had one before. |

Thanks mate me too!
I woke up this morning to a very cloudy tank...I did a water change and got a test from the LFS...every thing was fine except the nitrites, which was only in its smallest measure, about 0.25. My only idea was that the skimmer cup was to full and the skimmate was going back into the tank, but the skimmer cup wasn't completely full and I'm sure that wouldn't happen over night. I don't know what has happened! |

To be honest I can't remember when I set this one up. It must be over over at least 6 months now, probably more. Always been stable, never had any problems til now. Everything seems to be fine, the fish seems happy, but the corals aren't fully opening. It's a little bit better this morning. I was looking at the skimmer closer and noticed it isn't making a tower...it's still bubbling inside the skimmer but not rising. Maybe the air inlet is blocked with salt creep or something? I'll get it out and give it a good clean today.
Cheers |

Tank is clearing up...skimmer is still not working :s I took it apart today and rinsed it in freshwater and everything looks like it should work, but it doesn't produce foam/skimmate any more for some reason? I've tried adjusting the air inlet and even on max it won't rise.
I just realized something else just then - I had a power outage on Wednesday for about an hour or a bit under...maybe that had something to do with it? At the moment I'm more worried about the skimmer failing on me...I can't afford to have this one break, I'm already over the Christmas budget

It's a Tunze 9002...yes, I have checked the air tube and there doesn't seem to be any kinks or blockages. It just seems weird for it to be working perfect one day and not at all the next.
