I swapped my frogspawn plus some extra cash for a bigger frogspawn, much happier with it I am thinking of turfing the candy cane coral to make space for something nicer, any suggestions? ![]() ![]()

Oh now i understand, I didn't read your first post properly
Yeah that sounds like a good idea, they had an awesome piece the other day but when i went back today it had gone I picked up a nice bubble coral for $50 today, still waiting for it to fully open but it might take a couple of days.

I agree with you adam........I LOVE the really packed tanks too!
....and filling yours to the brim will look very cool! .......word of warning on the gsp: it spreads like a weed ... very very hard to control it and get rid of it....though it is very pretty! looking forward to seeing that new bubble too!

You thought you got rid of me didn't you....bad news then, cos I'm back!
![]() Quite a bit has happened lately, I'll start with the major issue.... I believe the downturn of my tank could be due to a rusty clamp that I had holding the return pipe onto the return pump. I checked it out one day to see it was all corroded and rusted, so now the water is ridden with rust. Must have been about 1 month since I took it out and replaced with plastic clips instead. I have been doing water changes of up to 55 litres, but the only way I think I can fix this problem is to change about 100 litres. That will be the day Until then, I have to put up with drooping corals. They have severly suffered from this little incident. I am fuming....I have spent $1100 on this tank only for it to be f__ked up by a stupid mistake :@I also discovered my skimmer pump has broke in the last week or two, so I'm just running a crappy Dymax skimmer until my new pump arrives. NOT HAPPY. I am experiencing a bit more algae growing these days, and even the red stuff growing on the rocks. On a lighter note, I haven't added any new coral but I have added a bicolor blenny, probably about 5cm long, he is so cute He seems to have settled in nicely which is a good thing of course.I have an auto feeder on there now which is great because now I don't have to feed my fish I also put the light on a timer...next thing is to get the auto top up going and I will only have to touch the tank once a month! I finished my hood by the way, all wired up and running nicely, few adjustments still to be made, such as a fan inside the hood so no condensation builds up. Anyway, thats all I can think of right now, not really happy with the tank at the moment but I'm sure it will fix itself in time. I feel better now I got that of my chest :P I love you guys <3

those dam metal clamps!!!
![]() ![]() .........wish we knew about that earlier - we always advise against metal clamps when we know about it! .......that's a sucky lesson to learn adam - sorry to hear it...but at least you caught it and are fixing it before it destroyed anything permanently ![]() Lesson to all: do NOT use metal clamps!!! IF that pic you showed is recent, then it doesn't look nearly as bad as you think ... the algae is probably forming more because of the broken skimmer...but more water changes and siphoning up the cyano will help until you get your new skimmer![]() WOO HOO on the hood! ... and the blenny! and the auto feeder! .... got any close up shots of the blenny you can share? soooooooooooooooo good to hear from you! and in this hobby something's usually always happening ... we so appreciate your honesty 'cause it will help others learn the process and as is most "bad experiences" - it's a learning process for you too! I know you'll be back on track again real soon....good job on not giving up!

Thanks for your reply Barbara, no shots of the blenny yet, he's still very shy..
I got some good news for you!.... Today I did a 71 litre water change that will give it a good flush out...took a fair bit of dead coral out. Might post up a pic tonight when it clears up again, little bit of dust floating around at the moment.

Did another 70 litre water change today as the ammonia was high for some reason :s I also bought a humbug for the sump to eat the food that goes down the overflow...its in the same section as the skimmer so here is my thinking:
Left over food or fish poo....left over food will just settle and rot somewhere and cause bad parameters, whatever they are....fish waste will be skimmed by the skimmer ![]() I also added some macro algae and a temporary light, here's a pic ![]()

Glad you got the clap out of there. That could have been it depending on what it was made from. You should try adding a bunch of carbon too. That will help remove any metals left behind from the clamp

tank is looking good - I'm sure it will come around quickly
![]() nice elegance I see there too with your autofeeder are you feeding any of your LPS directly? or just letting your fish feed them with their poop??

Thanks for the replies guys
![]() Estonche: that elegance used to be sooo much nicer before my tank had a mini 'crash'...check out some of the earlier photos in this thread, i believe there is a pic of it I don't directly feed my corals ever, I occasionally dose some aquasonic 'seafood' and thats about it.
