Default Can't find my salt mix anymore....now what??

I usually order a couple (3, 4 or more) 200 gal buckets of Oceanic salt mix and now I notice that foster/smith isn't carrying it anymore.....crap crappity crap crap.....so, does it really matter if I switch to another brand? I really like oceanic and have used it for several years but I don't want to buy it from some online store that I'm not familiar with (yes, I'm a dork).

Suggestions?

I guess you got to switch salt or suppliers. Any reason on why they don't carry it?

I use IO and RC and love it. They have really treated me good over the years.

Well, you could purchase foster and smith, then sell yourself the salt of your choice.

Or just use another site. If you're worried, just make sure to use a credit card instead of a debit.

just switch out before you completely run out of your old salt, you can mix them together and help ease into whatever new brand you choose

it's terrible when you really find something you like and then all of a sudden your supplier doesn't carry it anymore.....I ended up buying it from one other online store that I use but it was a little more costly..... Rats!!!

I think I'll take that advice and take some of my 'old' salt and mix it with the new stuff (when I switch brands)....GREAT idea! Thank you!!

I asked my LFS to order me some, and since the oceanic can be obtained by their larger supplier they brought it in for me. I think it was Royal pets. So call around and ask if any of them use that vendor. And last time I was in one, Pet Smart also carried it. Again if yours doesn't, then maybe they will special order it for you.
Oceanic was an awesome salt!

I agree, I've never seen I'll effects from my corals, but for me, my parameters would jump all over the place! That brightwell salt was the worst for me. Oceanic starts with my goal as far as parameters go. When I mixed up other salts like reef crystals or even instant ocean, I had to tweak the heck out of the new batch before i'd even add it! I had all my "dosing" perfected, so when I'd get a crazy salt I had to keep testing and testing a new batch to make sure it was equal to what my tank was.
I mean, one can do that with any salt, bit it sucks starting over each time.
I don't think the salt itself makes any diff, its all the other parameters.

Oh and esv salt I awesome too since you have to mix all the ingredients yourself!

I had the same problem. I love oceanic and always bought it from Fosters and smith. They no longer carry it. So i changed my salt. Gradually mixed the two untill i was out of the old and in with the new. I do plan on going back to oceanic as soon as i find a supplier with a good price and one i feel comfortable buying from. Really had no problem with the change.
