I had the Aquamedic Turbo floater 1000. Solid reputation!!
and went over to the Reef Octopus 1500. The Octopus is more then double the turbo in size so I was expecting some difference at a minimum. Very very very pleased to say the least. |

When i rate a skimmer to a tank i look at design, air pull and what the tank has in it. For a sps tank its important to keep clean so i generally look at 6lph per gallon. For a mixed reef i do around the same. For softies and LPS i generally go with 4-5lph per gallon. Only softies and you can get away with 3lph air pull. But like i said, it has to be a nicely designed skimmer. Skimmers are also very important for ORP levels, so keep that in mind.

So for this tank your talking 130g of water. I'd get something designed well that pulls around 800lph air.

24scfh = 679lph So your skimmer should be fine for a sps tank around a 113g tank.

This is the baby I am going to use on my new system.
I was originally going to use a RO Hurricane 3000 x3 but after discussing Skimmers with Luke I decided on the SWC 300A and I have to say I am more then happy with the skimmer (it is frigging huge & silent) Will be great to see it set up and running the performance from a mate with the SWC 250A is very impressive.
