I'm going to use 5 3w whites and 7 4w blues. The color of the blues over my 40 breeder makes the corals on fire with fluorescence. I haven't tried any of the whites yet but I'll let you know when they get here.

I like how they are wired in series, even if one burns out the rest keep going and you can just replace that one bulb.

Probably adding sand and water tomorrow or Thursday.

So you can swap out the 4 or 5 individual led's inside each unit?

Just to be clear. Does the GU10 come in other colors or can you change out the led's in the GU10 bulbs?

the bulbs come in several colors. You can search for cool white, blue, bright white.

If you can solder you can replace the leds in the bulbs to mix the colors on one bulb. I'm also thinking about getting 1 red 3w LED GU10 bulb and taking out the LEDs and spread the leds between some of the blue bulbs.

Also the tank is wet and running, pics tomorrow when it is more cleared up.

Added the water last night and built a temporary light setup. I wanted to paint the light setup but it is just too dang cold out!

I like the lights, but they look very white to me. I think it's just the pic from what you said before.

Are you adding anything to "speed up" the cycle??

The lights are fully controllable via a remote, you can dim either whites or blues independently. You can even shut off the whites for pure actinic look.

I'm adding Nutrafin Cycle, plus i have 2 lbs of live rock from my 40 gallon breeder down in the sump.

The bulbs in your temp set up are not the same GU10 bulbs previously posted right? The ones posted early are generic 4 led GU10's you can get at HD but the ones above have way more LED's per bulb. Maybe I missed something...

Yeah these are the bigger par38 bulbs, that i may or may not use. Once my GU10s get here I'm going to mess with them and see which i like more.

Well I had ordered some cool whites and they sent me warm whites. So for now I'm still using the two par38s. The tank is currently a huge algae mess so I'm kind of waiting that out

I have two ricordeas and a zoanthid frag and a snail shell with GSP on it. I already have a full cleaning crew from reefcleaners in here and tossed a tuxedo urchin in here too. I think the dry rock is leaching phosphates or something. I have some major filamentous algae growing on the top rocks it looks like a wigg. I pulled some of it off and put the top rocks in the sump hoping to age them that way for a bit.

Have you tested PO4 on the tank? If the rocks are leaching phosphates then its a good thing you have the algae now because it just might eat away a whole bunch of that phosphate.

Is the urchin eating any of the algae?

I haven't tested yet, can't find my kit. The urchin seems to be staying on the glass most of the time, hes not being very useful hehe.
