Default what kind of filtration for this tank?

I'm getting this tank (this weekend at a lfs anniversary sale)

Mr. Aqua Cube Frameless Glass Aquarium Tank

I'll be using mh lighting and a hob skimmer....also some live rock. I don't plan on stocking it too heavily...mainly sps.

Should I use additional filtration? If so, what would you suggest?

Thank you!!

can't wait to see the suggestions. I wouldn't have a clue on what to add to this tank. The ones that overflow into a tray are really cool.

ohhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh

I just setup the same tank Here's my build... A place for my money to QT/grow out :)

I'm using a medium CPR HOB refugium, and a lil tunze 9001 skimmer on mine Everything seems great.

With these little tanks I've found a good solid substrate really helps keep it bulletproof... Put in some layers of sand, like a layer or two of crushed coral, some medium grain sand, and some finer sand, and keep the sandbed nice a deep! At least with this 18" deep nano it doesn't hurt too much to put all that sand in there

What kind of skimmer will you be putting on yours???

If you dont mind water changes then i would use them for your water quality. An HOB fuge would work well too IMO. I dont know much about nano skimmers but im sure there are some nice ones.

wow a hob fuge would look great on there. With it's own little light and everything. You might even just put it on the side so that you can show it off too!

I'm going to be using an eshopps hob skimmer........What a great idea! I'll have to look into the refugium.

How often do you go a pwc on your tank?

Like many of the others on here, I would also suggest an HOB fuge Can't wait to see your progress on it! I bet you are very excited to get your new tank ^_^

With a tank this size, and mainly sps, i agree that wc's would keep it straight. What other setups do you have?
I've thought about doing live rock and a "daily water swap" with my bigger system if i ever setup a nano..
key word... ever

I also have a 72 gallon tank currently.....that I can't get any sps to grow in so I thought I'd try this size tank.

ohhh I'm curious - what size metal halide are you using?

In a tank that small, heat from lighting becomes a BIG issue very quickly!!

I put a 70W MH on my 20 gallon, and it raised the temp nearly 10 degrees
