45G Cube Build w/ LED Special - Reef-Geeks

Well to start I received my 45g cube by marineland the other day. I didn't want it reef ready because I will have a custom overflow installed with return, also my sump will be custom fitted and plumbing installed by a local reefer. My LEDs with consist of an 18" heat sink pre-drilled for easy installation 36 LED 24 blue and 12whites, LED will be from ReefLEDLights.com. As for now I will show you pics of my tank empty...lol

The next morning I found this little reefer waiting to assist she already wanted to get it going and setup- These young grasshoppers now in days... lol

that's a good looking tank! You might want to cure your new frag a little before you put it in for good though lol. Cute!

Here is what the overflow will look like but smaller. The one shown in the picture was for my 72g but decided to downgrade instead.

The new model will have only two overflows one for the skimmer side and the other for the Refugium.

This is a longer version of this overflow box.

Once this is completed I will take pictures of the new overflow box and Sump whic is going to be design out of acrylic.

ohhh, and the only thing Id do differently on mine is make sure I can get my return drain hardware back out....

now that I've got my overflow glued in I cant get the pvc elbows I put on my return lines out to clean them - ugh, toothbrushes

Yeah this is the reason for not using this one but a smaller version so we will drill 3 holes 2 for Overflow 1 for return. All 1 inch cuts.

Well here is 1 of 2 beta Heat Sinks that will be mine in the next few weeks or so- LED Heat sink 18"

Yes- I love it that was the beta test plus I am happy that I am part of being tested...LOL- Pre-drilled to to basically simplify installation on the DIY.

How much extra do they charge to predrill the heatsink?

We have a Local guy that's been doing the overflows probabaly before gl*******s was born.

. I did not make it. Which If I had the correct tools to do so I probabaly would do it myself. But I like his professionalism in installing the overflow and plumbing he also does custom Acrylis Sumps which are also awesome that he makes out of 1/4" and 3/8" Acrylic. The pre-drills are additional $40 if you look on reefledlights.com I believe the total would be $80 for the whole shabang. I am very excited about this build and it's the first real built I am going to be able to grasp.

Some of you know I had a 125G built going but that is no longer in my hands since I sold it off to buy the 45 Cube. Since my move last October it been and up and down ride but we have gotten confirmation that our old place will be ready by August finally- It's been a long road and once we are allowed to move back the 45G will be in process during the move by then I should have my Sump and Overflow installed- LED lights purchased and built- During this time I will update with pictures then each phase is completed.

It is stable right now I have my Custom sump built- I am going in a little different direction with the Lights not doing LEDs after tons of research and proven growth will be doing Lumen Bright Pendent Style 250watt 20k fixture. I also have to still have the overflows installed Which I have been procrastenating to get done.. I am going to me moving in another month so the build will continue with is full glory soon. My Sump was design by nanoseacreation.com- Anthony does an awesome job it's a 20"X20"X16" Sump the design here are a couple pictures

you're right that's a great looking sump. I did the good ole diy version. I've never worked with acrylic. I need to look into it. Lowes sells sheets of it that I can practice with. It's just so brittle though.
