Getting back into hobby? - Reef-Geeks

For some reason I miss having a tank to deal with...my wife thinks I should set up another all in one nano like I had before....I agree on that aspect. The nano cube was a awesome tank. I think if I where to do it again I would want LED lighting though. I definatly dont want to spend the kind of money I did the first time around. Something simple and easy to manage. No breeding Dragonets or anything like that to take up 3 hours a day of my time. My frogs are the only breeding project I want to focus on...especially since that adventure is proving to be sucessfull and mildly profitable. Well atleast not costing a buttload.

So, whats new in the nano/LED world? I see alot of those daisy chain LED systems going for a reasonable price...any recommendations? Maybe I should check out what tunze is currently offering.

Glad to hear you getting back into a tank. I need to do one for my son since he is confiscating my 25 gallon cube for his room. Most of the production lights are $300 or more, I plan on doing a DIY light. Most of the other lights are more appealing to the eye but they are basically the same as the ones you build just has a fancier top.

As far as the equipment, you know you weren't going to be away forever!!!! That stuff you pack away in a box and stuff it in the corner until the bug bites you again.

Yea...I think the only thing I would need is a new refractometer. Well that and two buckets. a bucket of salt and a bucket full of money.

But what hobby don't you need a bucket for of money to do. All of mine seem to drain me.

Well that didnt take long. Glad your getting back in. You do a nice job with reefs. I dont have a recommendation on LEDs. Havent spent much time at all looking into them. One thing i will say is look at the par 38 bulbs.

Thanks everyone, not sure what sparked the trigger...maybe because my reefing family is alot cooler than the frogging one. Either that or I am a glutten for punishment and cant stand the financial freedom of being reefless. Im not going to go overboard or anything (if thats possible for me) just a simple little easy to care for tank with some sexy shrimp and a couple small fish.
