Do you spot feed it?? The tentacles are the first to go when a coral is starved, and by "go" I don't mean they are gone but rather they quit extending.
For one week, I'd recommend spot feeding it with current turned off, at night about 3 different nights. As the tentacles return, Then you can feed in the current a little better. Oh and I'd recommend cyclop eeze. I've always had success with that stuff. |

Thanks Tizzo. I do use Cyclopeze, but was wondering if it was too small. With all the fish its difficult to try anything larger. I'll try your suggestions. It hasn't been long since I noticed this, but probably longer than I think.

GREAT suggestion Tizzo!
![]() fishchef: try cutting the top off of a 2-liter plastic bottle...place it over the coral, then using a turkey baster, slowly add food directly to the coral.....here's another thread that explains it and shows a pic of it too: My First Saltwater Tank please let us know how this works out for you!

I use a syringe, and if others wanna try to steal the food, I put it in a seperate bowl for about 30 or 40 minutes with the food. But beware, if you put him in another bowl, when you go to put him back in the tank, Fungias wanna spit out their food, so you hafta be very slow and careful.

ohh, and also set an egg timer - don't forget your coral in the bowl while you have it out to feed it!!!
I prefer the "plastic feeding hat" method that Barb suggested, just because I can guarantee I will forget my coral in the tub

cool method Tizzo - thanks for sharing!
.......I can't use that though 'cause my corals have to be secured to the rock - - as much as I love my urchins, they like to decorate themselves with any lose pieces ![]() so fishchef - - have you tried either of these methods yet?

Well, I started with more feedings with Cyclopeze and I do like the idea of the plastic bottle. I'm actually cutting up a jug this very moment. A friend of mine who owns a LFS said the cyclop is a bit small, but will stimulate a feeding response. Joe said to also use larger foods like Rod's ie. Looks like I'm on the path.

The syringe is what I was stressing, you can feed them like that in the tank.
I had to remove them because: since their feeders lost their sticky, the food would have been stolen before the coral could ingest it, they open their mouths and let the food fall in. But a healthy coral can hold it and feed itself even in a current.. |

mine really liked sinking pellets - you could try dropping a few of those on its mouth (and keeping your fish away) - maybe if it eats something it will start thinking to put its tentacles out too
Also - how does it look at 2 AM??? Some of my corals never polyp in the day, but after lights out its insane!!
