Cynarina Not Opening

I purchased a really cool Cynarina Coral about 2 months ago, but for the past month it only comes out slightly. Some problems that have been flagged are flow(very moderate), light( on substrate T-5 slightly off center), and its down stream from some mushrooms. Nitrates are 20. I could go on, but has anyone had similar issues that could lend a hand? Sorry, no digital photos today.

Was it nice and puffy when you first added it to your tank?
How many T5 bulbs do you have and what colors? Did you add anything, change anything, try a new product or stop a product around the time this started to happen? |

It was nice and puffy in the display. Never seemed to adjust. Lights were only a couple of months when added. I have two fixtures 4 bulbs each, each side. 2 22K Actinic & 2 15K Daylight. pH 8, PO4 .13, dKH 10, CA 450, Mg 1350, Salinity 35%. Nothing new added or changed.

OK i dont think its lighting. The two things that stand out the most are nitrates and phosphates. Neither are crazy high but they are higher then NSW levels. Have you tried scooting the coral somewhere where its shaded a little?

I've done something pretty drastic. I took it back to the LFS. He's a friend and it was doing great in his #4 tank. Maybe he can nurse it back to health. It just wasn't looking good and I couldn't pinpoint the problem. Yes, some parameters weren't the best. I have quite a variety of livestock and the system performs. There's just something and trial and error didn't benefit this coral. It has a better chance with Joe. If it bounces back I can get some store credit on...maybe a clam. I got a nice Der. along with this Cynarina and its doing great. Thanks for your concern.

The fish leave it alone, fortunately. Its curremtly the only clam and more like six inches when taking a good look at it.. I did have a small maxima and a crocea a couple of years ago. Been wanting to do more clams. This side of the tank is less active. They are cool.
