New mantis #2 Odontodactylus scyllarus - Reef-Geeks

Ok heres my second little mantis it is a true peacock but it is a sly one and is not very active yet managed to get a couple pics but bot very good and hard to see the true colors of this little shrimp and it is just as colorful as any pic I've ever seen so hopefully comes out later for some better pics.

Did find out that they can not have alot of light or it will weaken there shells so theres only a 55 watt PC light over it right now. Also not sure if this tank is gonna stay needed something in a pinch and had this old 29 so up it went.

Sorry about the crappy pics but thats the best I could get right now.

Very cool Bill. Are you going to keep both in the same tank? Do they both have to be the same species to be kept together?

....the second and last 2 pics really help to show some of the colors he has! I think after a few more days you'll be able to get even better pics too - he won't be so shy then

is he about the same size as the red one? what tank are you thinking about permanently keep him in?

Can only have one per tank reguardless of species unless there a mated pair

Yeah it was coming out in the store pretty nice but had a real small rock to hide under

He's actually a bigger one Barb little over 4 inches. I'm not sure on the life span hopefully a long time as long as I can keep the light out of the water

JK I got a new light for this tank with legs so no accidental falls besides this one is in a 29 gallon.

Lindsay I love it, It is about as cool a creature as you can get. I know Jared really liked it and was only a matter of time.

I ordered some poor defenseless crabs today for food. Be here in a couple days then we'll have some video HOPEFULLY.

I need to learn how to work the video function on my camera
