I was honestly afraid that my Anthias was going to eat this little guy. He is barely larger than two zoanthids!

It's my first experience with one. I honestly don't know.

He behaves nothing like I expected. His movement so far is more like a praying mantis if that makes sense...

So far he has set up shop underneath the zoa colony and he isn't venturing out just yet. Those big fish must be pretty intimidating for him!

Hopefully it will eat the Asterina Starfish like you want. Did you purchase a CC star in case it doesn't? Because it isn't a give that it will.

I would have put it in a breeders net and supplied it with some just to make sure it eats them before letting it loose in the tank. good luck, hope it chows down for you.

Let me know how the shrimp does. I tried a pair in my tank for the overwhelming asternia pop. and only saw them for a few days never to reappear again.

Funny that you mention that. My shrimp is MIA as of 11/10/10.

He is so tiny and there are so many places to hide... I'm still hopefull. But something is telling me that he is a goner.

Well from what I've read they feed exclusively on starfish (in particular Naroda and Linckia species). The internet swears by them for Asterina starfish removal.

He really does act like a species of camoflauged Praying Mantis. He stands pretty motionless and cleans his claws. I'll see if I can find a vid of one since mine is being pretty shy.

My baby harlequin shrimp is AWESOME!

I've spotted him only twice since I first introduced him. But tonight I saw him CAPTURE an asterina starfish and DRAG it back to his lair!

Mwaa haww haww!!!!!

He's eating alright. I'm going to see if I can't get the better video camera and capture some footage of him tomorrow night. I have a feeling he comes out a few minutes after the mains come out on a nightly basis.

Cool videos. I was going to say not to worry about it because its probably hiding and coming out at night but looks like you figured it out.

We have a crap load of those stars so it might be cool to get one of these shrimp. I dont mind the stars but i doubt one of these shrimp would wipe out all that we have
