Wow, that was a risky addition! These guys (Phyllidia varicosa) have a toxin called 9-isocyanopupukeane that is fatally toxic to fish and crustaceans. They've been known to nuke tanks because they release that toxin when they get irritated. They really are gorgeous though.

That's just Andrew's picture that I copied from the beginning of this thread. But yeah, it's a cool nudi, great photograph of it too.

I was just thinking of doing a tank update, water's all cloudy right now though because I was redecorating in it.

They do nothing to the tank when they die !!

Cos it got chopped up by the power head , it sent the skimmer into over drive. but no damage was done to anything else but the nudi poor bugger he was great to look at !

Andrew what are you feeding the nudi's?? I've never had one but I hear they starve and dye in a reef tank.

LOL Bill , they only lasted a short time as they got chewed up by the powerheads.

Most do starve if they don't get chopped up first. I think that last nudi feeds on a particular genus of sponge.

That's good it didn't kill anything. I've never kept a nudibranch before, but I've heard warnings against keeping Phyllidia nudibranchs because they're much more toxic than most others.

You are right Spiny in saying that they are toxic ,but all of them went through the power head at one stage , and yet i lost only 1 acro , maybe i am lucky ,it did not wipe the tank out .
