Hey new guy here - Reef-Geeks

Hi all. I have been lurking for a few weeks now. Your members are so personable and realistic I had to join!

I just recently upgraded my 29g reef, well it was mostly LR and a couple of mushrooms. It's now a sump less 75g with about 90lbs of rock, bare bottom. I'm using a Remora with a 1200 Maxi off of the back. I plan to stick to softies and LPS. Right now there are some fresh acan, favia and frog spawn frags along with the shrooms (blue, green and brown). Nothing too spectacular!

For fish it's a 3 stripe B/W damsel (aka satan fish), a Clarki and a watchman goby. I have my eye on a six-line wrasse and a golden sleeper goby at the shop.

Hi to everybody I'm a new member to Reef-Geeks. My hobby has always been fish aquarist for 6 years now but I had always freshwater fish. But last year I baught a reef tank so now I own a saltwater tank. I've got a 100 gallon tank and a 45 gallon refugium tank. After the year passed I have a very big problem. Aiptasia invaded my tank and it's really a big headache, i can't get rid of this pest ! . I buyed a file fish aiptasia eater, and didn't even touch it. Then I went for a copperband butterfly and for now didn't touch it too. I buyed Aiptasia- X from RedSea and no control at all. I don't know what I'm going to do now. Please can you give me any advice because I'm only one year old on reef tanks? Thanks

So I would suggest throwing about 6 or so peppermint shrimp in your tank. I know our sponsor Reefs2Go.com sells peppermint shrimp that are guaranteed to eat aiptasia. If you are still having issues, see if you can find berghia nudibranches. They ONLY eat aiptasia, and will eradicate it all out of your tank. The only downside is that once all the aiptasia is gone, your nudi's will then starve to death and die in your tank, unless you can find someone who will buy them from you. Hope this helps!!

Hey all thanks for the welcome. I should have some pics up tomorrow. Have some diatoms on the new rock, probably because it was mined on dry land.

My bare bottom is... well... fabulous! Makes it very easy to get the crap out! haha.

The only bummer about the upgrade is my 29 was almost covered completely in coralline. The bottom and all. Oh well!
