Hi I am new to the forums here. I have been in the saltwater hobby for a few years now and have several tanks. My newest addition is a 180 mixed reef that has been up and running about a month now. I will post some pics of my tanks later today.
Thanks Stan |

Beautiful tank! I know a lot of people like to have 2 overflows in larger tanks, but I like the thought of one overflow just so there is more space for STUFF!
What are your plans for this tank? I know you said mixed reef - will that be hard and soft coral and fish, or are you more partial to a particular kind of coral?

I bought the 180 as a complete setup. It came with 3 250 watt radiums and 2 vho actinics, so it has enough lighting to grow just about any coral I would want. The tank had a ton of softies and some sps when I got it. The sps didn't survive the move and the resulting cycle, but most of the softies did so it will be mainly softies for a while. As far as fish go I have added 1 yellow tang 1 scopas tang a pair of japanese swallowtail angels and a strawberry dottyback so far. I plan to add a tennenti tang, a vlamingi tang, and a naso tang in the next week or 2. The plan is to add the fish small and let them grow up together.

Mostly zoas and palys, a green toadstool, some finger leather I got from a fellow reefer, gsp, a few head of duncans, and some xenia. I have also added some candy canes and green trumpet frags from the 90. Anybody know what zoa this is ?

Welcome to the site!!!! Great looking tanks too!!!
I'm a tang lover. I have a 180 too with 3 tangs in there. They look great in big tanks. I can't wait till they all get full size. Yours looks amazing though. Very nice setup!

Thanks for the compliments and the id. I still have a hard time getting good pics of the tanks, I have been playing with the settings on my camera, but it seems no matter what I do I can't get good pics with just the actinics on. If I am home today when the main lights are on I will try to get some pics of what the tank really looks like.

I've learned that a tripod and white balance is a must for aquarium shots. I still take pretty crappy pictures, but they're way better than when I started.

I bought a tripod about a year ago. I have tried playing with the white balance a few times my camera has settings like sunny, cloudy, flourescent1 ,2,3, incandescent, and auto. I can't find a setting that gets the colors exactly as my eye sees them. Especially under the actinics, or blue leds. I will not give up though as I am too stubborn for that.

I got some decent pics of the 90 this morning. They are posted in photo geeks. Heading out soon to a barbeque + frag auction down in Nokomis. It will be my first time there so who knows what I will end up with.

Didn't hang around down there long enough for the auction. The kids were not into it at all. It was the first time I have tried to take them to something like this and I probably won't try it again for a loong time now. On the plus side I did get to see what 4,000 gallons of coral grow out tanks looks like.
