Rainbow Lifeguard pumps - Reef-Geeks

Well just got my shipment in, (surprising it was on time) and recieved my pumps as hoped. I thought I would write a review of sorts on first impression of the new(since last I saw them) Rainbow pumps.

First off let me say I was surprised at how much they shrunk over the years. Last time I saw these they were almost a clone of the Danner line of Mag pumps out there. Well today is a much different version of what I was used to. They are tiny in comparison but still pack a good punch. The Rainbow is pictured on the left.

It has the following specs, this what drew me to it.

1017 gph max flow at 0 head feet.
Uses 50 watts.
Max head 10.0 feet.
1 inch MPT on inlet & outlet.
Extremely quiet operation.
Noise level less than 45 decibels.

They use Sicce technology for the thier impellor design which relates to lower wattage.

Compared to the Sedra pump on the right it is extremely compact to boot. It also uses 40 watts less to produce more GPH. The Sedra is rated for 900 GPH and uses 90 watts.
These are my first imkpression for I have yet to use it, I will continue to update this thread on its preformance and reliability.

Wow lower wattage and 1 inch inlet and outlet, those would be nice to work with. Can you run it inline or does it have to be submerged? I see that it has a nice price too.

I got everything but the Hose for my Skimmer, And then got hit with a bombshell. I was told we may have to vacate the house we are in, looks like the landlord is having problems with her bank, so no telling whats gonna happen.

Tell me,, I just bought 60 lbs of live rock to boot, and its setting in cooler in the garage, I dont even know If Iam going to set the tank up at this point. Man talk about fuc_ing timing.

Yeah If my ex didnt rape me on the divorce I would be owning, Was trying to get out of the deep end of pool when this happened so i could buy. Shiet happens.
