Here are some of the roses we have in our back yard, total of 14 bushes. You can see how our winter /fall are, they explode in color.
here is a Arizona Rose ![]() as they mature they turn this color ![]() But as they bud and unfold they are this color ![]() this is yellow floribunda bush/shrub ![]() This one is a lincoln Rose Same as the white house has in the rose garden ![]() This one is a levanda Rose floribunda ![]() the levanda Bush ![]() this is my fav of all of them, This is called a Judy Garland gloribunda ![]() They start pinkish white then turn cream with pink rims. we had wind yesterday that kinda took all the older roses and took away thier peddles. ![]() Here is Magnificent Pink Gloribunda ![]() My GF takes care of them most of time, I do the heavy pruning during thier dormant time which is January generally. They reaqlly set off the back yard, I hope my corals do as well here. But just a sense of what our winters are like.

just remember, every rose has its thorn. just like every night has its dawn. and just like every cowboy sings a sad, sad song.

I miss our citrus trees. we had a lemon tree, 2 orange tree's, a tangelo tree and a grapefruit tree even though the grapefruits where always rotten. Lemons would get so big they would break branches off the tree come late december.

yeah it seems there is group of Illini and hoosiers down here. I had citrus trees but they developed a Fugus long before I moved here so I took them out. I loved the fact we had fresh lemonade all the time. But hey,, no matter really, the weather is better here then anytime I spent in the old home area.

cant take all the credit, My GF does most of the stuff with them, But like she says the soil here is prime for roses, High alk and sandy with clay bottom, It makes for perfect rose soil.

WOW...they're beautiful reefdaddy! .... we just got into rose bushes ourselves...last year we planted 4 of the Star double knockout's in our back yard...they're great because they grow (as long as you trim them) like shrubs and are not prone to typical rose diseases (though we do need to spray every now and then for bugs)...I am so in love with them too...they produce beautiful flowers from May until November!!!! here's one of them in May:

Go for it blacjack! you will be so happy with the results...I was never really a rose person until one of my clients - a rose grower/wholesaler - got me interested...they really aren't as difficult to care for as I thought and adding just a little bit of extra care (fertilizing, pruning, shaping) a few times during their season reaps incredible results!!!
now they're my favorite flowers! just ask reefdaddy...his are gorgeous!

I agree with Barb on this. It to me is like adding color to our aquariums, it is that way with gardening. Roses are so cool and so many variations you can make a real statement in your garden with roses.
