You guys are helping out a lot!
Esta- have you tried the fragrantless type soaps?? I am using a scent/ dye free baby soap, but I'm not sure if it helps or hurts... I do use an antibacterial in his "smelly spots" lol. Armpits, toes and that one other place. His feet constantly have athletes foot! We spray his shoes.. I put him on the counter and wash his feet several times a day with a neosporin cleansing wash, pat tem dry then apply eucerin lotion. That helps his cracked up feet. Maybe I should try that on his legs?? So far the only real trigger I see is seasonal. In winter it's redder and burns him, but in summer it's flaky and itches him. He scratches all night long- even in his sleep!! This stuf totally sucks- and Esta I hate it that you had it too!! |

If you can get him to stop scratching, it can heal up a bit and then the lotion can do what it does! But, that is always easier to say than do... So, anything that stops the itching helps.... I'd bet tinactin would burn like a mother if you sprayed it on an open rash tho ![]() When it gets really bad like that tho - the steroid creams the Dr's prescribe can heal it up in a week or two, and then you just need to be constantly on preventative care, to reduce the flare-ups.

You said he has constant athletes foot, is it for sure a fungal infection? My brother has severe skin allergies to shoe glue and can't wear most shoes/sandals because they crack his feet all apart and leave red shiny sores with flaky skin.

Oh boy spiney, I haven't even thought of that!! He had a pair of generic type crocks, they say "dodgers" across the top, and we got thwem at walgreens, anyway his feet didn't really break out with those- I thought it was cause they were more aired out, but maybe the glue... hmmm...
Oh esta, I found an all natural shampoo/ body/ face wash in the baby section with almost no smell and I've been using it lately and it seems to be ok for him, course, coincidentally it's also much cooler out now. Anyway, maybe you might like it... ![]()

Also, I've been givin him an A an a D vitamin each night. I know he gets d from te sun but it can't hurt right? I seems to help. His legs are still red but they don't look like burns anymore and I don't see him scratching either... I hope this lasts.
And with te cooler weather, our ac has been off. We just turned it on last night, I hope that doesn't change things. |
