My 45g starfire rimless

Default My 45g starfire rimless

I finally got my new tank up and running so I thought I would share the build photos with everyone here.

First photos are some of the stand construction.
I had lots of help from my hubby and my beautiful granddaughter. I got the lights hung today and did a bunch of water tests. I don't think I am going to have a cycle as most of the LR was in my garage cooking all summer long. I will wait another week and then I plan to move some of my zoas and a few LPS over to see how they do.

Thanks skinz. Well, I have 1 mp10 for flow, the ATB multi-use skimmer, tlf phosban reactor, and my old RK2 to control it all. I think I will need another mp10 to help with flow down the road, but I will wait and see.

Thanks. The cone is working great considering there isn't much to pull out. It skimmed out all the cloudiness from the sand in about 6 hours. I have ATB 840 on my 95g and I love it.

I can't believe that skimmer is rocking out so much already and I love that rim-less 3 way starfire. Awesome setup, I'd love to come down and see it in person.

Of course I just need to let it mature a little bit before I start adding the clams. I plan to keep some lps, and zoas also. I got a 15g tank that I am going to set up to qt. the clams. I just need to pick up a good used light for it.

Thanks Ian. Once I get something besides LR in it you are welcome to come and check it out.

The skimmer is great! I haven't had to adjust it since setting it up. It just keeps skimming away.

Your other cone skimmer looked like it was doing pretty awesome as well.

P.S. I think I'm going to add a gate valve to the Octopus I got from you.

I really like the clean look without any cords in the tank. The flow is awesome, and I am learning more and more that paying a little more up front saves you in the long run.

You don't like the wedge pipe adjustment? How are you going to mod it?

Whats the wedge pipe adjustment? I was going to put a gate valve on the out from the skimmer flow so I could push the level in the skimmer up.

The slideable riser tube. The gate valve is much better.
