Added sand back to the tank last week and it look so much better. Only an inch but what a difference. Corals have taken a turn for the better in the last few weeks too. Added a few small pieces of sps and they are holding color and showing growth tips so thats a good sign. If everything keeps going this way then maybe in a few weeks we might add more frags.

I've seen it in person and I can confirm the tank is looking great. Barebottom tanks definitely have a unique appeal but this tank took on an entirely new vibe once that sand bed was there. Looking forward to some updated pics!

Hi Chris, hi Barb. Just passed the last 2 days reading this thread. That remodelling sure took lots of guts to go on...
Congratulations on what you've acomplished.
Let me make you some questions, please.
About barebottom or not, after trying both ways, wich one do you advice? No sand, lots of sand, or just an inch?
Another question, is related to vitamin C. Is it working? What doses? Did you stop the vodka?
Finally, not having nothing to do with your thread (sorry for invading you thread like this), the other day I was reading Steedy thread and seemed to me he used a kind of stirofoam under the rockwork, like he meant to prevent the bottom to suffer from a possible rock fall. Is it a good idea? Will the stirofoam degradate with salt water?

Oh, I'm finally ordering my new tank this week, and I will surrely steal your rockwork design, along with other ideas...

Keep the nice work...please.

Hey Paulo, thanks

I like the inch of sand right now. When we were BB (no sand) the bottom looked good at first but you see every piece of fish poo. Thats the point of a BB tank but its a lot of work and if you dont clean it all the time it can be bad for the tank.

The inch of sand looks cleaner and with a few of the right kind of snails it should only need a few quick cleanings a month.

No, we stopped that. Didnt get god results with it.

Yes, stopped this too. Vodka and vitamin c both had the same result on the tanks. The nutrient levels were low but things didnt want to grow.

No worries

You mean from here?

Steedy´s salt aquarium 426L - 112 Gal.

I think Steedy had the foam in there, under the rocks just for the photo. Maybe to keep from scratching the glass? He does have full sheets of foam under the whole tank. Thats a great idea IMO.

We want to see pics when the new tank comes.
