Nice Neomeris Annulata in there, too.

Thank you!

Got a clam!!! Picked up a 5 inch squamosa at the LFS, so far it looks quite happy and I finally replaced the electric blue hermit as well. The new hermit is much more lively than the last one, I wonder if the last one was on the way out when I got it.

I also ordered some more corals, they should arrive Wednesday, I got 3 ORA acros and two montis. I'm excited!

Picked up more corals at the LFS on Monday, got more acros, pocillapora (I think) and Faviites. The tank looks much more reefey now. I will try to take some pics tomorrow. So then, pics will show up here in about 4-6 weeks

So far, so good. It's blue rim doesn't seem as vibrant as it was originally, but that could be from the constant light dimming to acclimate new corals.

Just for fun, I thought I'd share some pics from before the Bryopsis was under control. Looks like my very first saltwater tank

This is my new Montipora undata, the only coral from Liveaquaria that wasn't either bleached or browned out, to be honest, I'm rather disappointed in them when it comes to livestock. They're great for dry goods, but it seems every livestock order I place with them, I get mediocre satisfaction at best.

And my new fishy. I've been wanting a flame angelfish for years, probably ever since starting the hobby, but I knew their numbers in the wild weren't very good due to over-collection. So I've been patiently waiting for a captive bred angel, they apparently exist, but I have yet to find one. I even offered $400 for one from a research breeding facility to no avail.

Well, I saw this beauty at the LFS. A fat, vigorously eating Hawaiian flame. I had never seen a flame as colorful as this one for sale. The only comparable one I've seen was at the Denver Aquarium. So, it was incredibly flashy, eating prepared foods and was fairly bold in the tank, not hiding like the other dwarf angels. So in a moment of weakness, I broke down and got it. I feel a little bad about it, but this fish is so awesome, the excitement overshadows those feelings. I tried my best to get a captive bred flame...

The pictures do no justice for how bright the colors are.

After putting the fish in the tank, I noticed little crypto spots on it, so the fish is now undergoing treatment. Stupid, I should have quarantined first, but there were no other fish in the tank, so I decided to risk it.

that's very pretty! Congrats. Nice catch on the crypto! At least now you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Crap! Now the poor fish is developing HLLE, noticed a little pit behind the eye and with a flashlight, you can see the lateral line on its right side is starting to open up. I am sure it's the stress of switching tanks every 2 days and generally crappy water quality in the hospital tanks. At least HLLE is more treatable the Crypto.

On the plus side, I have not noticed any new crypto spots, so the tank transfer appears to be working. Just have 4 more days of hospital tanks, then it can go into a Q-tank with a proper biofilter and decor. Stupid diseases!

holy poop! Are you running carbon on any of the tanks? I don't think that's something that pops up real quick.

Not on the hospital tanks. And the carbon report that showed a correlation to HLLE was done with bituminous coal based carbon that was unwashed, which would contain lots of radioactive and toxic metals. My carbon is wood based, so much less potential problems in that respect. I really think it's been the lack of algae and the extremely stressful week.

why not feed the algae in that tank? Is there any issue with doing that?

No meds going on. Just swapping tanks every 48 hours to eff up the crypto lifecycle.

That doesn't look like bryopsis more of a hair algae, bryopsis is fairly stiff and super tough. Almost nothing eats it and usually one of only ways to be rid of it is boosting your magnesium way up. That hair algae looks just like what i have going on in my 10 gallon at the moment, very annoying stuff.
