WOW! this is a GREAT reminder to ALL of us: clean and change our lights!!! .........we're guilty of that right now and it shows in our lack of coral growth ......looks like we just added another "to-do" on our list!

thanks mike! oh yeah.....................good to see 'ya too!

I'm REALLY BAD about it. I should take down my fixtures, and clean them, once a month. They bulbs are only about 5" off the water surface and with my massive amount of flow, they get caked with salt, quickly.

Realistically, I clean them, each time I change bulbs...lol.

Cool pics. Amazing how far they will stick out their polyps when they want to.

So, I have a few different projects going on, but took some time away from them, well, included in them, to take a few photos today. As some of you have seen, I've had a large mass of UGLY zoanthids climbing up the front glass, for quite awhile. Well, I finally decided to do something about it. Last week, I took a razor blade, a net, and a step stool and got rid of them!! Razor blade to scrape them off the glass front and glass bottom, step stool to be able to reach the bottom...lol. The net was to catch stray polyps, as they tried to escape, where they would plant themselves and start a new mass of ugliness!

Unfortunately, this ticked off a lot of corals. I ended up losing a small colony of M. undata, a couple frags of M. setosa, my Rainbow Monti and a couple other encrusting Montis are still showing a lot of stress. A couple Echinos are still showing signs of stress, of course, the nice ones! All other corals have completely recovered and are doing well. LPS were ticked off for a few hours but bounced right back. Acropora were not at all effected.

Well, removing this mass of ugliness allowed me to take pics of corals I've not been able to photograph, since the ugly zoanthids were in the way! While photographing them, I decided to shoot some other photos too. So, without further ado, here we go...

I still need to scrape coralline, so these ones were a little obscured.

Sunny Ds.

Chong Bongs

One of several frags of Armor of Gods, and the easiest to photograph, due to it's location.

A nuisance mushroom, but at least a purdy nuisance.

One of my Cyphastrea japonica frags

Green Millipora

ORA Miami Orchid (a little ticked because I moved the colony, right before taking this picture)

Thank you, very much! Yes, the Filefish is adorable. So far, it's still doing a great job, munching Majanos and NOT even looking at Zoanthids. Keeping my fingers crossed, but the net ready, just in case!

Yes, not only ticked off other corals, but actually killed some corals, quickly.

No, I did not cut into them, at all, at least not intentionally. They scraped off the glass pretty easily, so I don't think I cut any. However, they slimed up IMMENSELY! The slime was very THICK, so I was able to catch most of it, with a net. However, I'm sure chemicals/toxins were still released into the water.

Maybe it helps to realize that these ugly zoanthids were growing up the glass, in a half circle, about the size of a volleyball. They were also growing out from the front glass, along the bottom, about the same size. It was a very large quantity of Zoanthids. Actually, I believe they were Palys, not that it matters much.

I really should have realized the possible risks and tossed a bag of carbon into the sump, before hand, but didn't even think about it.

The Chong Bongs are indeed Trippy!! Heck, I had never even photographed them, since the ugly polyps were in the way. I've had them for over 6 months, without realizing how nice they were! lol

It's been awhile since I've taken the time to take any pictures. Today, I had a little bit of spare time, so decided to pick up the camera.

Thank you! I wish the clams looked like that, from the side though, since that's how they're actually viewed. They look completely different, from the top!

Ummm, I think that clam came from Barbie, at Aquarium Solutions, a year or so ago.

However, Henk, at CoralProps, does have some nice green clams, though they may appear different, from the side, as mine does. When you look at it in the tank, you can't see any green at all. In fact, you've seen that clam, several times, in my tank...lol

Merry Christmas everyone! Madison's opened her gifts and is now back to sleep, Angie's at work, so I figured I'd post some photos I took recently.

I rarely take "fish pictures," so figured that's what I'd post.

Male Flame Wrasse that I just got from WetPetsHawaii, the other day! He's still a lil' shy, so stays in areas that are difficult to photograph.
