haha - well I decided to consider getting rid of the other two clams my donation to the local clam club - the more ppl who are addicted to them in the area, the more chances I have to get in on group buys and new stuff hahahaThe lightest colored one on the left is staying with me - he's still in QT tho, one more week then he will be promoted to the main tank!

Monday my male flame wrasse jumped into the overflow... no biggie, I fished him out and put him back in the tank. My new falco hawkfish had been chasing him around a bit and he was sticking to the upper 1/2 of the tank. Other than that he seems perfectly normal.
Tuesday - no wrasse in sight. Now, I made the hood with 0 holes in it just so I could keep jumping wrasse type fish. I check everywhere, under rocks, under clams, in overflow, out the tiny holes where the seaswirl comes in, on top of the reflectors.... EVERYWHERE - no fish... Geez, he ups and dies in a day under the two rocks I just dont want to pull out of the tank? I'm pissed, and decide well if hes dead in the rocks, (which he never hides in BTW), he can rot for all I care. I get a massive water change started... Hood reminder - see, no holes that aren't plugged with something! ![]() Today, I get home from work to start the water change and think, hmmm, lets check the ammonia, see what that tells me for fun... Ammonia 0. But when I peek behind my tank and stick my nose in the output fan for my hood it wreaks of dead fish!! Does my water smell like that? Nope, only one side of my tank smells like that, right where my overflow downpipes are. Yesterday Aaron (my husband) asked me "Can the fish be stuck in your pipes somewhere??" Me, I assuredly say "Nope, its a 5" fish, he cant fit between the grates, impossible." Impossible, yes, but given the smell, I decide the flush the pipes one by one.... Main wet drain pipe flushes, nothing..... Secondary wet drain pipe flushes, nothing... Dry backup drain pipe, doesn't flush, only a trickle.... sh$t is all I have to say there. Drain pipes - for reference - note the closest pipe with the upturned elbow, thats the dry one.... ![]() The fish somehow jumped, landed in the 1" opening, wriggled his way halfway down the elbow, and became a fish stick right there in horizontal section of the dry pipe totally out of sight. I had to stick a flex hose down the pipe and forcedly pry his cold, dead, dry body loose so it'd flow down the pipe Now the smell is gone at least. The dry pipe has now been retrofitted with a rubberband mesh cover, to encourage fish to bounce off into the water again next time. So - for those with upturned downpipe elbows - I recommend meshing them

The husband is much happier now that the house doesn't smell like fish sticks - I figure its due torture for sitting at home collecting unenjoyment checks all day, but hey, who am I?
I have not instituted a fish buying moratorium in memoriam of my poor fishies lost, until October You will be the first to know if I break my rule, lol

The livestock I've had for years, except for a few additions here and there.
The tank hardware as its running now has been stocked since June - so 2 months in this tank configuration with previously abused and neglected livestock ![]() Thanks
