Hi guys, I thought I would finally share some pics of my tanks with you. This is my 60 gallon rimless cube tank that houses 8 Southern Erectus Seahorses, along with the occasional softie, various gorgonians, and macro algaes. It has been setup for about a year now. I also breed seahorses and will post some pics of them later, along with my 46 gallon seahorse tank. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks! Me, too it's my favorite tank I've ever had. I use a HOB Remora skimmer (rated up to 75 gallons), a sealife systems skimmer (Rated up to 75 gallons), micron bags, and I always run carbon. I also do a 20 gallon WC once or twice a month.

Nice. I was curious because I saw a horse stuck in a built in overflow/skimmer at a LFS last week. After reading some info on seahorse.org it sounded like that was something to be careful of.
Thanks for the insight, I would love to have a dwarf horse tank in the future. |

I've been ok so far...You can see in the first pic, my overflow has eggcrate across the opening so the worst they can do it get stuck on there, which has never happened.
I tried dwarf seahorses, and honestly they bored me. You can't keep much with them and they are not very active. The tank was also a pain in the butt to maintain. They are awfully cute though! |

techguy, why not do a 20 gallon high and do a pair of fuscus? They stay relatively small and would do fine is a tank that size. It has the same footprint as a 10 gallons as well.
Skinz, yes, he has a little cyano on him. They sit so still sometimes that it happens occasionally. The nitrates in this system are always very low...I think I have the macro to thank for that. My phosphates jump every once in a while up to .25 or so...But I just run some GFO and that usually takes care of it. |

That's a shame skinz... LOL at the pic.
Thanks Steve! I'm glad you like it. Remember back when I first got it back on the fuge? Good times...I just put a chiller on this tank (I got an amazing deal!!!) but I have kept seahorses for 2 years and managed to keep the temp down with fans. It needs to be 74* or below. You could always get a temp. controller, set it for 74* and whenever it hit 75* it could turn on the fan and turn it off when it cools back down. By depth, do you mean like tank height? |
