Frag plugs

Default Frag plugs

Has anyone found a Frag plug that doesn't suck? It seems that no matter where you get corals from, they always come on plugs that are impossible to stick to or in liverock. They are always super huge and thick which is fine for eggcrate, but not for placing corals. My preferred plug is just a piece of rock, it seems the most versatile or the magnetic frag plugs because they just attach to glass. I can't be alone here!

I have broken many a new frag from it's stupid mount and re-glued it to some rock rubble.

I prefer rubble as well. I often take the plug and cut the bottom off and they put epoxy around the edges to make a more gradual ramp if you will.

Exactly what I do whenever I get something on a plug. I hate the look of a frag plug glued to a rock (if you can manage to do so).

I usually cut them off too, but what frustrated me the most was Liveaquaria's plastic plugs, they don't break easily like ceramic or aggregate so you can't just cut them and they have a little well filled with adhesive in the middle that is such that you can't remove the coral from it without leaving behind a large portion of the frag. And of course, they're even bigger and fatter than normal plugs so you can't put them anywhere. Why they so stoooopid?

I really like the ones from Saltcritters.com. Very easy to work with. Don't break, but when you want to crush the post it's fairly easy.

hehe I always just break the frags off the plugs, and try to leave a little on the plug that I just let grow out so I can see it to the next guy lol
