Default Maditory equipment

I've found some real issues at my house. I've gotten them all fixed, but it was all avoidable. What everyone needs to remember is that there is a lot of moisture in the air, especially in our rooms with tanks. If you've ever had a tank or bucket overflow needs to think about this warning.

Get a dehumidifier. In the last week I've gotten two larger ones. I pull over a gallon of water just from around 8pm at night to 8am in the morning. That's a lot of water. My house was around 80% humidity, where now it's around 45%.

Mold and mildew will grow like crazy if you're not careful. Dehumidifiers can help eliminate all the problems and keep them from happening again. It even feels better in my house now. The air doesn't feel as thick. It's kinda nice.

Dehumidifiers will also cut down on your AC bills in the summer (and you can bump up the temperature it has to maintain and still feel comfortable- win/win!).

Air conditioners ARE dehumidifiers.

in a way they are, but there's no comparison to and actual dehumidifier!

Would you rather run a 30A AC unit to dehumidify or a 2A dehumidifier?

And how much extra work does your AC unit have to do with wetter air? How much extra rust is going to be produced in your condenser / exchanger, how many years are you shaving off the life of an AC unit by working it as a dehumidifier?

Hehe.

Mine does 50 pints a day, I have to empty it twice a day in the summer at least, sometimes 3. Now I do it 3 times in 2 days.

Pat, I've considered plumbing my dehumidifier into a drain, but having to empty it lets me know how much work it's doing.

both of mine have drains too. I'm keeping them both in the house for right now. next week I'm going to put one down in the crawl space. I'll have it hooked up with a hose down there.
