Ok, I got the new bracket on that I ordered from Catalina Aquarium. Couldn't fix the other broken fixture because they only sent half my order. I thought the second light had a problem with the wiring, but it appears to have a bad bracket too. Weird that both brackets gave out on the same day?? Anyways the new brackets are much better made, they hold the bulbs nice and tight. Hopefully the other half of my order will come in soon.

Both are working, but one of the bulbs was bad (it just never ends!) So there's an old bulb on there now, but at least the whole tank is lit again with proper light.

I am officially done with these stupid things! while I was taking them apart to clean the salt off, I noticed that another electrode was busted off and fused to the bulb!!! Then as I was taking apart the other light, one of the ceramic brackets cracked and fell apart. I was going to sell them on craigslist, but I can't knowingly pass these fire hazards on to someone else. So they are trash now, good riddance. A good lesson in what cheap equipment really costs. They cost me $400 to put together and almost $300 a year in bulb/part replacement.
I have bit the bullet and just got LEDs, so this should be a problem no more!

Tanks are still being set-up right now, but the lights are amazing. I got Aquailluminations Sol Blues on the main tank, and the nano version on the quarantine tank. Just the color adjustments make it worth the money and they are very bright. The mounting hardware leaves much to be desired and will require quite a bit of DIY if you don't want to use their big ugly rail system, but the actual lights are great and they should pay for themselves in about 2 years.

I have been running a DIY Led fixture on my 90 for a year now and I am happy with it. The 180 has 3 250 watt mh and 2 160 watt vho actinics. It is a "power hog", but looks great. I am pretty sure I will be switching it over to led in the springtime, but not sure if I will DIY again ,or buy something like the Sol modules.
