Gday all,
New thread another new attempt. barb fingers crossed on this one. They spawned yesterday about 2pm. some pics everyone wants in ![]() closer up

cheers Chris ,
tonight the pupils have developed on the fry , we are on track for a solid batch. as they were laid on sunday evening , im guesstimating a hatch either Thursday night or friday night. need to buy a small LED torch now. Also need to setup the fry tank . didnt get a chance tonight argh! |

... but seriously...the average is that 7-8 days after laying eggs they'll hatch...the difference depends on temperatures for the most part...the warmer it is the sooner they hatch...but never heard of 4 or 5 days....just observe them very carefully...the day they turn silvery and shiny is when you know it'll probably be the next day or 2 when they hatch!!!! so what color are they today? (note: what we've seen with ours is usually 1-2 days after they are all mostly silver, that they then start looking more like a coppery color...that's the night that they hatch!)

ok they have darkened up considerably with black pupils still evident. No silver flashes just yet so yoru on the money Barb I am probably a good 3 days off.

(Also...if you stay up with them on the night you think they're going to hatch...and they don't hatch within 3 hours after lights out...then they'll hatch the next night for sure...actually it should really only take 1 hour after lights out but I say 3 just to be on the safe side!) |

Update barb,
we have silver flashes today ,,, so we are looking at hopefully a copper tone tomorw will post a picture for you soon. |
