Got a spawn tonight! 11-17-09 surprisingly at the same time my Mandarins would spawn 9:30ish pm.

Unlike the Mandarins eggs these are positively buoyant and stayed in their strands thankfully. Made for a easy collection.

Now do you know if these are easyer or harder to raise than Mandarins?

Oddly the Ocellatus eggs possess a oil globule. Spledidus eggs did not possess a oil globule.

Fertilization confirmation. Egg development slowed due to low temps of hatching container.

17 Hours post spawn.

I'm always amazed by how fast the embryos develop. And yeah I need one of those microscopes too. I've been holding out for a $3,000 set-up, but that one is really nice, especially for the price.

How much zoom does it have? and what magnification are those egg pics at?

Egg pics are on the lowest zoom setting. The digital camera adds 10x zoom. It was on 4x so technically its 40x? It has 4X, 10X and 40x so maximum would be 400X

The eggs are developing slower than the Mandarins. In thier defense though the temps in their container are lower than what the Mandarins where.

I mandaged to catch a spawn on video. This is their second known spawn. Broodstock has been together for 5 days now.

Holy friggin cow!!! I am once again blown away with the microscopic shots and the video!

Seeing them spawn was amazing...and seeing the growth progression is priceless! I am sooooo happy you're documenting all of this...I wish we had done this with some of our successes in the past...this is fabulous D!
