Default My new SI Percula

Couldn't resist this little beauty when I went to the LFS. After a couple of days of irritating my elegance coral, he/she moved into the malu anemone as I was hoping. I had previously relocated my goldflake GSM's to a tank with my bright green haddoni so they can have an anemone they won't outgrow or love to death like they would eventually do to the malu.

Now on to the pics. Including shots of some "tentacle sucking" as she transitioned to the new anemone.

I think they all do that. Mine tear at my little nem all day long. Pushing and pulling and tugging. I think it's just how they live with them.

Ok. Wondering if it sends some kind of message to the nem as well?

Here's a quote from this http://eqzotica.ucoz.ru/_ld/0/9_ANEMONES.pdf

Some anemonefishes nibble at their host's tentacles, which it had been speculated might immunize them against the sting. But the fish are not immune to being stung, as is sometimes stated. Immunity is a physiological response that extends throughout an animal's body. Experiments by Davenport and Norris conclusively proved that the protective agent resides in the mucus coating that anemonefishes, like all fishes, have on their surface. But what is the source of this protective mucus?

and here http://www.springerlink.com/content/...3/fulltext.pdf

The author has frequently noted, as have others,
that many species of Amphiprion commonly bite at
and ingest anemone waste material, mucus strands,
and anemone-captured food (SLvrrER, t888; VEI~WEY,
I930; YONGE, 1930; MOSE~, t931; GOI~AR, 1934;
KoEmG, t960; MAtCISCAL, 1966b). The significance of
such material in the diet of the fish is, however,
unknown.
