Just a thought...

So since my eggo is preggo again, I've been trying to find new homes for the fish in my FOWLR tank, so I can reduce my amount of responsibility to two tanks instead of three. Not surprisingly, I'm having a very hard time finding someone to adopt my full-grown adult maroon.
Well, tonight, while staring at the tanks, I had a thought. I have 2 maroon clownfish - the full grown adult in the FOWLR tank, and the juvenille in the 29. Maybe I should try pairing them, and keeping them in their own tank. They wouldn't be a lot to handle, since it'd be a FOWLR tank and requires a lot less maintenance than a reef tank, in my experience. Anyone try to pair maroons before? The younger is considerably smaller than the adult, which I've heard is best if you want to try to pair them outside of them growing up in the same tank. I have also heard the best way to pair them is to "scare them into pairing" - so put them both in a tiny bucket at the same time, since it would be a close environment and foreign to both. Sounds a bit harsh, but it would be for maybe 5 minutes, and I could also track aggression easier and get them separated faster if things go bonkers. What are your thoughts, fellow geeks?

I agree!! sounds like a plan - if you don't give either an advantage they should fight it out and be happy - assuming your smaller clown hasnt gone female yet

Breeding them is a good thing too. They r a little hard to pair up tho. Very very mean fish.

Oh man, I know! I'm cutting it a bit close. I hope the juvy isn't female yet, or this is gonna be one super ugly pairing!
Thanks!! We're calling the baby our little Ewok, because my due date is May the Fourth ![]() Tell me about it... My full grown adult is actually pretty nice considering it is a maroon. It doesn't pick on the other fish, nor has it picked on smaller, new additions. Just chills in her cave. But the other maroon is pretty nasty. Funny though, when I added my midas blenny, the MIDAS put the maroon in his place when he was trying to pick on him. It was pretty darn funny!
