It has been a while since i posted. So i thought why not share my experiencei have had with my mandarin. Since my last post about him I have now gotten the mandarin to eat anything I put in the tank. At first he was very picky only eating the Pods in my tank. i knew that was not going to sustain him. So I tried blood worms (suggestions from several experienced reef keepers on this board) and he went to town on those. I also feed live brine shrimp i hatch. he will go to town on these as well. Since then He will now eat frozen mysis and brine. I have had a good experince with the manarin mostly thanks to this group. I would love to get a mate someday for him. We will see

That's great to hear!! Bloodworms, eh? Live or frozen? (I'm only familiar with frozen, and not sure if you can get "live" bloodworms)

I am glad the frozen blood worms worked as a transition food. enrichment is necissary but very effective means. It took a lot of work but I found that was the quickest possible means on training dragonets onto frozen foods.
The thought came to me while watching a video of mandarins in the wild. In the video there was millions of tiny skinny worm looking critters darting through the water column. Mysis tend to be a bit harder but once mixed in with the bloodworms they get a tast for them as well but tend to pout if they don't get any worms.
