Rare clownfish find at Petco??? - Reef-Geeks

So at Petco today while I was buying cat food, I noticed three clowns that were likely marked down far less than they should have been. They were all less than $20. The first was a black ocellaris with normal stripes and an orange head (captive bred), for 16.99. The second was labeled a misbar ocellaris for 15.99, but it looked more like a Picasso to me, it's the top picture. Ironically, the 'misbar' was less expensive than normal ocellaris. The third was a misbar maroon labeled as a regular maroon for 19.99 bottom pic. I'm not sure if this one was still getting its stripes in or if it is fully developed by now, it was around 1.5 inches long.

What do ya'll think, good price or more common than I think?

that's definitely a semi-picasso. the pics are confusing me though. it looks to be about 3 months old in the first one but then a year old in the 2nd one?

WOW!!!!!! but....................after all......................the "designer" fish did come about from misbars....and misbars technically are underdeveloped.........just sayin'...........

Their mistake your gain. Our Petco orders in blue jaw triggers and gets blue headed jaw fish. Since it came in as a blue jaw trigger they have to sell it at that price, which is 80 dollars less than any other local fish store. I too had to pass it up since I did not have a deep enough sand bed for him.

I saw one guy get a bag full of $20 koi and they charged him the price of feeder goldfish! Guy paid like $8 for $200 worth of fish, guess that's the price you pay for not training your workers...

LOL Im gonna head there when I do a pond. I will also be on the lookout for mislabeled creatures. Maybe I can get a bleached rbta for the price of a bleached green bta!

They have some good buys, and some of the marine tanks are really taken care of. I just hate seeing hold tanks on the same system as the fish that are for sale. Especially if they are doing it because of a disease or parasite.

wow I wish the petco around me would have some of those. The one closest to me use to have a really good aquatic dept. but the guy who was in charge found a better job and left

lol - doesnt it always happen that way?? poor pet stores, the really are only as good as their management cuz employee turnover kills - keeping animals is a skill that is hard to teach!!

Yeah, this ones not great, but it's ok. There is one about 30 minutes away that has a coral frag tank and the occasional clam. The guy who manages it has been there forever there.

remember that Achilles are about the hardest of the tangs to keep. I would drip acclimate it for about 3-4 hours at maybe 2-4 drops per second. Make sure you have some nori for it too. They are sometimes hard to get to eat.
