That is my plan. They dont seem to stray from the nem at all when I see them at the lfs. Which makes me think it should be plenty of room, being plumbed into the main filter. It may be a nem clowns and mangrove roots.

It'll work just fine. I want to say Joe Lichtenbert had his Gold Stripes in tanks that held 15 gallons, and I have a friend here in Duluth who's GSMs are breeding in a 25-ish gallon Aquapod/Nanocube type setup.

Impossible to say. Clown pairs can be together for years and never spawn. I was just on the phone with Rod Buehler (make of Rod's Food and of the "Rod's Onyx" fame) and we were talking food. He mentioned how people would bring in long standing pairs to trade for Onyx Babies, pairs that had never spawned for their owners (according to the owner's observations) and generally, he'd have these pairs spawning in just a few weeks' time. So it is very conceivable that the environment and husbandry of the fish can play a big role in when they finally decide to spawn.

I think you're right. Fatten them up and keep them happy. That should help out tremendously.

Unfortunately, the Lightning doesn't quite have the "gusto" appetite yet. All the other females (maroon clowns) in the house eat like absolute pigs. But the Lightning...still a bit shy, reluctant to chow down. It seems that perhaps there's a "switch" that kicks in..i.e. all of a sudden the other PNG female kicked into overdrive, started growing a lot, and thus, feeding a ton.

In the absence of the huge appettite, I'm simply feeding small amounts frequently. I'm also seriously considering the addition of dither fish to bring the Lightning Maroon out more. Not above trying something different (maybe a small school of RedSpot Cardinalfish or a Four Eyed butterflyfish that would eat the Aiptasia in the tank).

both of those are pretty fish. I wouldn't mind getting a pair of maroons later down the road.....

hmmm I did just get a couple more 10 gallon tanks for my rack.....
