Hi Barbara,
This has been a crazy-busy week so I'm just now responding. Angelo, my Blue-Spotted Jawfish, jumped into the overflow (AGAIN!) the other day. I thought I had every little crack sealed off...but of course he found a hole. It's a pain to get him out of there and I wasn't sure we could do it...but luckily I nabbed him.

As for my Oscellaris babies they are all doing really, really well! Since I figured out what was going on with salinity and pH I've been able to keep the little 2 and 3 gal tanks much more stable. I sure love my new digital salinity monitor! If I have a bucket of salt water for water changes with salinity that's too high I simply throw the salinity monitor's probe into the bucket and pour in RO/DI and watch the digital monitor's numbers until the desired salinity is reached. It's made my life so much easier since I now have 6 tanks to monitor.

My juvenile Oscellaris went to their new homes last week and I just heard yesterday that they're doing great in their new tanks - and that made me happy. I gave a pair to my local reef-buddy's daughter and I sold the other pair. That made room for the clutch that hatched on the 25th. I got about 80-100 fry from that clutch and I've only lost about 6 thin fry so far.

I'm doing two small w/c's every day as well as top-off water to keep the salinity at 1.022. I'm warming and aerating any new water I add to my fry tanks and I've had really good luck since I've been doing this.

At 7 days I was running a little low on rotifers so I switched my fry over to small copepods and they love 'em! I have two 5 gal buckets of copepods and so I'll have plenty of live food for my new fry until they start eating Golden Pearls.

I never imagined I would enjoy raising clowns as much as I do! I can't wait until my Picasso pair and my Pearl Eye pair start spawning. Until then I'm getting lots of good practice with the Oscellaris fry because those parents keep cranking 'em out - every other Friday night at 5pm - like clockwork!

Barbara, are you raising fry right now? If so what kind of clowns are you and Chris breeding these days?

Have a good weekend everyone and a happy 4th!

it's soooooooooooooooooo GREAT to hear successful updates like this laurie! thank you for sharing with us..............though pics/video would be cool too ......and I'm so relieved to hear that Angelo was saved he's such and awesome fish and pretty darn clever too eh?!........so you have 6 tanks now?! .....did you recruit your husband yet? ......glad to hear they're liking the pods too.....when do you start them on golden pearls? did you give up on the bbs?

we're still raising the one batch of ocellaris......still have about 65 and I'm thinking that in 2 weeks I'll be willing to start giving them new homes ....they still spawn like clockwork too but I have so much going on that I'm not collecting any more of them right now...........I have noticed some pre-courting behavior from my black saddlebacks ........I'm really hoping that they'll start spawning in the next 6 months so maybe I'll collect one more batch of ocellaris in a few months to keep me in practice for them
