I got this wrasse from Skinz78 and he said it turned his clams over. It leaves my clams alone but I thought I saw it nip at some zoas. Skinz78 said it was a coris wwrasse (I beleive) but I can't find one like it on line to id it. It may be a fish I should get out of my reef. I t was mostly whit when I got it a couple weeks ago but is getting pink stripes on it face and orange scallop shapes on its scales now. Any ideas? Chris you can chime in also. Thanks.

Here's the closest pic of a coris wrasse I could find. There's so many different types. The black spot near the tail is what's confusing me on what it is.

I believe you have a three spot wrasse... Or more accurately, a "Halichoeres trimaculatus"

Thanks so much thats it. I guess its starting to change color some. Some on line sites show them colored up alot, and some say they get to 11". I may have to put it in the 180 ga. tank when I get it all cycled and lighting on it.Thanks for the ID.

She will eventually turn male and when she does her... well "his" facial lines will be very vibrant. Very pretty fish!

looks like it won't mess with corals, but don't keep any cool inverts in with it.

Yea looks like there has been alot of study done on this fish , in the sex change area. They even did hormone testing on them. But yea the adult male is really cool looking. This will be my first fish that I can watch go through a sex and color change. I have always wanted a Emperor angel but tank is to small.I heard they do best in very large tanks, but some sites selling them say a 100+ is all you need.
This wrasse should be cool. So Skinz78 if you see this post ,it wasn't a coris....LOL. And I think it was digging under your clams not messing with them, it digs under my plate coral now.

pretty cool that you got such a unique fish and it's already starting it's change! ...I'd love to see it's progress! (hint hint).....would you mind updating us along it's change with new pics? ....I think it would look GREAT in your 180 after it's established too! ....so how many clams did 'ya have to give up for the skimmer?

Very cool fish, especially after "the change". Glad you got an ID on it.
